  NOTICE

CARDMEMBERS' RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIABILITIES

 

 

Dear Valued Cardmembers,

Effective 1 July 2017, all Credit Card and Debit Card transactions at all Point of Sale (POS) terminals in Malaysia must be authorized with a 6-Digit PIN. Signature will no longer be accepted.

As a BSN Cardmember, you are responsible to keep your Account/ Card and PIN information safe which includes but not limited to the following:

» You must abide by the Terms and Conditions for the use of the Card.
» You are under strict duty to keep your Card and PIN safe at all times and in order to prevent lost, theft or fraudulent use of the Card and to prevent the disclosure of your PIN, DO NOT:
   - You must abide by the Terms and Conditions for the use of the Card.
   - use your date of birth, identity card/ passport/ driving license number or your phone number as your PIN;
   - allow any other person to use your Card and/or PIN; and
   - write down the PIN on your Card, or on anything and keep it together with your Card.
» You must notify BSN immediately after having discovered that your Card is lost, stolen, an unauthorised transaction had occurred or the PIN may have been compromised.
» You should notify BSN immediately upon receiving SMS transaction alert if the transaction was unauthorised.
» You must check your monthly statements thoroughly and report any discrepancy to BSN without undue delay.
» BSN must be notified immediately of any changes in your contact details to ensure that all correspondences/ notifications reach you in a timely manner.
» You must use your Card responsibly, including not using your Card for unlawful or illegal activities.

 

Liability For Unauthorised Transactions

You will be held liable for PIN-based unauthorized card present transactions if you have:

(a) acted fraudulently; or
(b) delayed in notifying us as soon as reasonably practicable after having discovered the lost or unauthorised use of your Card; or
(c) voluntarily disclosed your PIN to another person; or
(d) recorded your PIN on your Card, or on anything that is kept together with your Card.

 

You will be held liable for unauthorised card present transactions which require signature verification or with a contactless card, if you have:

(a) acted fraudulently; or
(b) delayed in notifying us as soon as reasonably practicable after having discovered the lost or unauthorised use of your Card; or
(c) left your Card or item containing your Card unattended in places visible and accessible to others; or
(d) voluntarily allowed another person to use your Card.
