IMPLEMENTATION OF BSN SYSTEM MIGRATION

Kuala Lumpur, September 6, 2018 - The BSN system migration activity has taken place on 31 August - 4 September 2018. It involved the migration of existing legacy system to the new core banking system in upgrading and improving the quality of BSN banking services and operations which is in line with the needs of the present financial landscape.

The exercise of the migration process was comprehensively implemented during the National Day holidays to enable branch closure and indirectly minimize interruptions to customer banking requirements. This was due to the temporarily unavailability of all BSN banking services except for transactions via BSN credit cards at other banks’ terminals during the migration period.

As a proactive measure, BSN has notified the customers on the scheduled system migration, inter alia via Short Messaging System (SMS), social media platforms, websites, media releases, radio and news announcements, account statements and notices posted at all branches and agent banks nationwide since July 2018.

This system migration involves five (5) major components that include full data migration, data validation and verification, batch run and sanitation tests on the whole new core banking system. The duration engaged for the whole migration was 100 hours involving approximately 14 million customer accounts.

The process was fully completed on 4 September 2018 and nationwide banking operations were resumed gradually to customers starting at 11.00 am. Given that this new banking system involve the core system of BSN, it shall take a while to remain stable. As such, it is expected that there will be interruptions to the system during this stabilization process. The new banking system is expected to increase BSN's competency to provide the best for its customers.

As of today, all our services are operating as usual despite few minutes of intermittent disruptions. Our ATMs and CDMs are allowing withdrawals and deposits without any major issues. At the branches, banking services such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, remittance and other services can be carried out and will be fully maximized in stages.

We take note of our customers’ concerns following the ongoing process. We are working hard and closely monitoring the system to ensure it runs smooth for the convenience of banking transactions to all our customers. We also would like to emphasize to our customers that their deposits are safe with us. Being one of the premiere financial institutions in Malaysia, our customers and their deposits are our top priorities and our utmost concern.
