Sprint kings in latest edition of Le Tour de Langkawi will don teal jersey from BSN

Baling, 24 February 2016 – Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN)’s corporate colour teal is set to make an impact in Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2016, which was flagged off at Kangar, Perlis today. Fans of LTdL will be seeing the colour donned by the sprint kings, as the bank is the official sponsor of the sprint prize this year. The Sprint Champion – the leader of the points classification for the sprint challenge, will be presented with a teal jersey in each stage. The new sponsorship reflects BSN’s support for the sport industry’s efforts to organise international sports events that draw global interest to Malaysia.

The 21st edition of Asia’s top road cycling race will take the cyclists through 8 stages over 8 days crossing 8 states and 2 Federal Territories in Peninsular Malaysia from Perlis to Johor. The final stage will end in Melaka on 2 March 2016. This year, there are 22 teams participating from 32 countries.

“Following our recent rebranding, we are pleased to bring a new touch to this renowned event that has been taking place for more than 20 years. Through this sponsorship and the accompanying on-ground activities, we want to elevate our engagement with Malaysians at all levels and build meaningful long-lasting relationships with them. Supporting popular sporting events helps us connect with the community, increase our brand visibility and encourage people to rethink their perception of us. BSN today strives to be a dynamic, modern bank that is in tune, with Malaysians of all ages and lifestyles. Le Tour de Langkawi is an excellent fit for us as the cyclists are fast, dynamic and constantly moving forward just like the bank is – particularly the sprint king who will be wearing the new teal jersey,“ said Puspa Marina Dato’ Haji Omar, Senior Vice-President / Head, Strategic Communications, BSN.

“Additionally, in line with our brand promise to offer a better life within the reach of all Malaysians, we want to support activities that can elevate the image and status of Malaysia internationally. An event such as LTdL creates exposure for our towns, cities and natural beauty and can further elevate tourism, which in turn creates income for the people,” added Puspa Marina.

Members of the public will be able to visit BSN’s dedicated booths set up at the finish area at all stages. The booths will be promoting its range of products such as loans, mortgages and the Premium Savings Certificate or Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP). Each customer who saves RM5,000 through the SSP will receive one of 10 exclusive Teal Sprint Jerseys, on a first come first served basis. Apart from that, customers who save other designated amounts through the SSP will receive other goodies such as exclusive cycling caps and water bottles. For entertainment, BSN will be having performances at all stages of the race. For children, there will be treats such as free flow of cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream at the booth. The promotion will be run at the booths set up for all 8 stages. Additionally, BSN is participating in the pit stops for the race, whereby their designated cavalcade cars will feature BSN team members giving away souvenirs to spectators across Peninsular Malaysia.
