BSN supports Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2016

BSN has been the main sponsor of the Book Fair for the past 3 years

Kuala Lumpur, 29 April 2016 – Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) continues to support the importance of literacy with another year as the main sponsor of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) 2016. BSN, Malaysia’s leading Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), is partnering with Malaysia’s largest international book fair to promote the development of the book industry and nurture a stronger reading culture. Over the course of the book fair, the importance of developing and increasing literacy solutions will be showcased in unique and experiential ways for members of the industry and consumers to learn from as well as take part in.

“We are pleased to continue bringing our touch to this renowned event that we have been a part of for three years. Supporting efforts to improve literacy, wider knowledge and better reading habits is important to BSN. This is in line with our brand promise to offer a better life within the reach of all Malaysians, thus we want to support activities that can have a positive and enduring impact among all levels of society. Additionally, a major event like this can elevate the image and status of Malaysia internationally, by positioning Malaysia as a hub of knowledge, thus we are proud to help make this event a success,” said Puspa Marina Dato’ Haji Omar, Senior Vice-President / Head, Strategic Communications, BSN.

This edition of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, held from 29 April to 9 May 2016 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Parks Serdang (MAEPS), sees an increase in family-oriented activities. With 250 exhibitors participating, including local and international companies and other agencies and organisations, the KLIBF is targeting 2.5 million visitors for 2016. Visitors can look forward to seeing the latest books and promotions from publishers around the region. There are also book launches, seminars, conventions and other activities lined up during the fair.

“Through this sponsorship and the accompanying on-ground activities, we want to elevate our engagement with Malaysians at all levels and build meaningful long-lasting relationships with them. Being a part of popular events such as the KLIBF helps us connect with the community at large and encourage people to rethink their perception of us. BSN today strives to be a dynamic, modern bank that is in tune with what is important to Malaysians of all ages and lifestyles,” added Puspa Marina.

Members of the public will be able to visit BSN’s main booth at Hall A as well as three of its satellite booths at the festival to get info on BSN’s product and services. The booth will be promoting the bank’s range of products such as savings, cards, loans, mortgages and the Premium Savings Certificate or Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP). Customers who open an account or save designated amounts through the SSP will receive goodies such as an exclusive ‘mini fridge’. Children will be able to participate in activities such as a colouring contest as well as interactive games with the BSN Smart Junior team.

“BSN’s main strategy in offering a better life within everyone’s reach is through providing banking services. At family oriented events like the KLIBF, we want to take the opportunity to encourage the habit of saving among younger children. By offering accessibility and also their own savings account, we want the children to be more money aware and help them develop good saving habits as they grown up,” concluded Puspa Marina.

In line with its carnival concept this year, KLIBF has set up a 'street mall' with indoor and outdoor activities. It features a mixture of educational and entertainment activities such as hot air balloon shows, mascot parades, food trucks and much more. KLIBF is open to the public from 9.00am to 7.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am to 9.00pm on weekends, with free admission.
